My F@#$ Coachella Weekend + Frightened Rabbit

SO, as many of you know this weekend was Coachella. It was 105 degrees out there, it was 95 degrees here. Both are hot, but there you are in the desert and here you are close to the ocean and countless pools. Well, this was my fantastic F@#$ Coachella weekend. Friday night was the wierdly awesome No Age, Yeasayer, The Death Set, Free Blood show at the Ukrainian Cultural Center. It was really neat, I got drunk on $2 dollar Sparks and Keystone Light. The show was average, though I love those bands, the venue was huge and the sound was sub par. On the other hand the crowd was rad, a who's who of non-Coachellers, talked to Spanky for a bit, and the atmosphere was hyper. The Death Set ruled it (see pic at above, my friend Chad is the one clapping his hands while dancing to their cover of Nirvana's Territorial Pissings) and the others were just fine, it got too late for LA early risers, No Age went on at like 1:00am. That's nuts for this town, people need their beauty rest. Next day, we watched the Lakers kill the Nuggets, then ate at some sweet Izakaya in Little Tokyo, then danced like fools at Bar 107. Good times. Today, we went to to Standard downtown and sat pool side and sipped mojitos (notice the boob behind me:). I couldn't help but think how much a Coachella attendee would love to be doing what I was doing, then went to Fiesta De Broadway, where they closed down all of Broadway downtown and partied with the Latino community while drinking Tecate tall boys. After that over to El Compadre for some Modelos and comida. A fantastic weekend: bands, booze, pools, friends. F@#$ Coachella and I still got a tan.

Oh, and I have been listening to these guys Frightened Rabbit for the past two days, they are very digestible and enjoyable, and didn't play Coachella:) a better Counting Crows for 2008.
